Senior Colonel Zhang Dongjiang (June – July 2010)
Senior Colonel Zhang Dongjiang is a senior research fellow at the Academy of Military Science (AMS) of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of the People’s Republic of China. As a high ranking officer, S. Col. Zhang is experienced in the practical workings of troops and works as commander of a company and a regiment, deputy-commander of a division, and director of the Research Section of Politics of the Political Department of the General Staff of PLA. At ISDP he engaged in research focusing on the dispute between China and Japan on delimitation in the East China Sea.

Captain Feng Xinhua (June – July 2010)
Captain Feng Xinhua is a researcher at the Department of Operational Theory and Manual Research at the PLA Military Science Academy. During his stay at ISDP he researched the security of international marine strategic thoroughfare.

Norihito Kubota (April – June 2010)
Norihito Kubota is an Assistant Professor at the National Defense Academy of Japan; he became a Visiting Fellow at ISDP this April. From 2008 to 2010, prior to joining ISDP, Mr. Kubota was a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto. Song Qingrun (April – June 2010)
Song Qingrun is a researcher at the Institute of South and Southeast Asian Studies at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), a prominent Beijing based think tank. He is an expert on the studies of Myanmar, Thailand, and Mekong area, and has published a number of papers about the abovementioned fields. He was a guest researcher at ISDP during the Spring of 2010 and spent his time researching U.S.-Myanmar relations.

Major Lu Yin (November 2009 – February 2010)
Major Lu Yin is a research fellow at the Institute of Strategic Studies, National Defense University, PLA, China, and was a visiting fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy of Sweden (ISDP).

Winston Set Aung (October – December 2009)
Winston Set Aung started a three-month research project with the ISDP this October as a guest researcher. He is a Founder and Director of the Research of Asia Development Research Institute (ADRI) and also a Founder and Executive Director of the Asia Language and Business Academy (ALBA) of Myanmar. He is also a faculty member for the MBA Programme at the Yangon Institute of Economics of Myanmar. Mr. Set Aung is taking part in the ongoing Myanmar project at ISDP and mainly focuses on research related to informal/illegal cross-border economy including cross-border trade and migration (human trafficking) and their policy implications. His stay was funded with a grant awarded by the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT). Personal webpage.

Li Xin (August – October 2009)
Li Xin started a three-month fellowship at ISDP this August as a guest researcher. She is currently Deputy Director for International Exchanges at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR). Apart from conducting interviews and attending conferences on various topics, Ms. Li Xin is conducting research mainly focused on the study of China’s image as well as the intertwined relationship between China’s soft power and the perceptions of the outside world.

Colonel Zhao Dexi (February – March 2009)
Colonel Zhao Dexi was a guest researcher at ISDP. He is a research fellow at the Department of War Theories and Strategic Studies of the Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing. His fields of interest include national security strategy and military strategy. During his stay at ISDP he worked on his report on “Integrating Process and Collective Defense of the European Countries”.

Senior Colonel Zhao Xiaozhuo (February – March 2009)
Senior Colonel Zhao Xiaozhuo was a guest researcher at ISDP. He is a research fellow at the Department of World Military Studies of the Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing. At ISDP his research focused on strategic management of armed forces in developed countries.

Dr. Xu Qiyu (January – April 2009)
Dr. Xu Qiyu, a senior research fellow from the Institute for Strategic Studies of the National Defense University, Beijing was a guest researcher at ISDP. During his stay, Dr. Xu worked on an Asia Paper entitled “Managing uncertainties – Sino-EU cooperation in international security”.

Dr. Kathleen J. Hancock (June 2008)
Dr. Kathleen J. Hancock, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas, was a guest researcher at the institute. Dr. Hancock specializes in international relations theory, international organization and economic relations in the former Soviet Union.Personal webpage.

Prof. Alan M. Wachman, an Associate Professor of International Politics at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University was on a short research visit at the institute.
