The Stockholm Center for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs hosted a delegation from India to discuss the electoral reforms and administrative practices in Sweden and India

April 9, 2026: The Stockholm Center for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs (SCSA-IPA) hosted a delegation led by Mr. Swapnil M. Naik, Chief Electoral Officer of the Union Territory of Chandigarh in India, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, in ISDP to discuss the ‘Electoral Reforms and Administrative Practices and Experiences of Sweden and India’. The other members of the delegations were Mr. Nishant Kumar Yadav (DEO, U.T. Chandigarh), Mr. Amandeep Singh Bhatti (Electoral Registration Officer), and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Booth Level Officer. Embassy of India representatives, along with Mr. Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, Councilor (Political), attended the meeting.

From the ISDP side, Dr. Jagannath Panda, Head of the SCSA-IPA, received the delegation and held the discussion. The discussion ranged from a number of issues on how Sweden and India manage their electoral process as democratic nations. Amb. Lars Vargö of the ISDP made a presentation on ‘Administrative Structure in Sweden’ and shared his views on how Sweden manages its elections and electoral processes. Members of the other centers in ISDP also attended the meeting and engaged in discussion.
