ISDP Launches Joint Policy Roundtable Series with the U.S.-ROK-Japan Trilateral Next-Gen Study Group
September 23, 2026: The Institute for Security & Development Policy (ISDP) and the U.S.-ROK-Japan Trilateral Next-Gen Study Group (Study Group) are pleased to announce the launch of a joint policy roundtable series designed to create opportunities for cross-regional dialogue between next-generation leaders and distinguished experts on security cooperation across the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions.
The new project aims to deepen understanding of the common challenges facing Asia and Europe by engaging in candid discussions around key thematic topics on security. Participants from both the Study Group and ISDP will take part in a series of virtual roundtables starting in September 2026, with an executive summary to be released publicly following each session.
The project is being launched at a time of global uncertainty, with challenges ranging from ongoing wars in Europe and the Middle East to intensified competition over dual-use technologies and increasing trade weaponization. The two organizations share the recognition that these common challenges require cooperation across regions, industries, and generations. This project is the first step toward building a shared understanding of the issues and policy solutions needed to address them.

As the United States, South Korea, and Japan each deepen cooperation with Europe respectively to navigate an increasingly complex global environment, this collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring that the next generation is not only included in strategic conversations but empowered to shape them.
