Korea Center: Policy Oriented Program

The project addresses critical issues surrounding peace, security, sustainable development, and international cooperation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia. In a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape marked by heightened tensions between the U.S., China, Russia, and North Korea, the project seeks to promote constructive dialogue, policy-oriented research, and practical cooperation among stakeholders from the Nordic region, the two Koreas, and beyond. Key issues include regional security challenges, such as military deterrence, denuclearization, and crisis management; the humanitarian situation in North Korea; green transitions and sustainability; and gender equality and the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda.

With the support of the Korea Foundation (KF), the project aims to facilitate greater understanding and policy dialogue on these pressing issues by organizing public forums, seminars, expert roundtable discussions, conducting in-depth research and analysis, hosting guest researchers from Korea for joint studies and undertaking field trips to the Korean Peninsula. By leveraging its position in Sweden and fostering multilateral collaboration, ISDP intends to strengthen Nordic-Korean ties, promote peacebuilding, and contribute to sustainable development and democratic governance in the region.
