Conference: Development-Security Nexus in Semiconductors: Prospects for Europe–East Asian Collaboration in an Uncertain Era

The Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) and the Taipei School of Economics and Political Science (TSE) will co-host the conference in Stockholm on October 7th 2026. 

The conference focuses on the semiconductor industry as a critical intersection of development and security, with particular emphasis on Europe and East Asia. The objectives are to analyze the economic and security dimensions of semiconductor industries, compare development models and strategic responses in Europe and East Asia, and foster collaboration by building a cross-continental network of experts. The significance lies in addressing one of today’s most pressing global concerns: ensuring resilient semiconductor supply chains. By linking Europe’s innovation strengths with East Asia’s manufacturing leadership, the event aims to generate policy-relevant insights and strengthen institutional and personal partnerships. 

The conference brings together leading experts in the field from prominent research institutions across Europe, East Asia, and the United States. Their expertise spans supply chains, industrial policy, law, geopolitics, and geoeconomics, with regional focuses covering East Asia, Europe and beyond. 

The conference adopts a structured one-day format, featuring three panel sessions open to the public. The panel themes are:
