Yasmine Neri

Yasmine Neri is an intern at the Stockholm Korea Center at ISDP. She recently earned an MSc in Asian Studies at Lund University, building further regional specialisation after a BA in International Relations and European Affairs, focusing especially on South Korea and Japan.

Her research interests are broad, including South Korean public diplomacy and foreign policy, with her BA thesis exploring whether cultural diplomacy could be used to convert popular culture into an effective tool to promote South Korean foreign policy goals, focusing in particular on inter-Korean relations. She´s also interested in South Korea-Japan bilateral relations, security dilemmas and strategies in the evolving geopolitical context, civil society issues and social movements. For her MSc thesis, she conducted three weeks of fieldwork in Tokyo, investigating the socio-cultural phenomenon of intentional solitude in public spaces. She is currently expanding her focus to cooperation efforts between East Asia and the EU/Nordic region.
