Internship Opportunities at ISDP – Spring 2027 

Every semester, ISDP runs an internship program that is open to university students and recent graduates. The internship lasts between 4-6 months at the main office in Stockholm, and the desired start date for the spring semester is from mid-January – beginning of February. ISDP’s internships are typically full-time (40 hours per week) and unpaid, with flexibility for studies and thesis writing. 

The Institute is currently looking for interns for the spring semester 2027. Specifically, we are looking for interns for our China Center, Center for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs, Taiwan Center, and Center for Research and Innovation Security, supervised by the respective Head of Center and Center staff members. We are also looking for an intern to work with the Asia Program more broadly, supervised by ISDP’s Executive Director and an intern to help with Outreach, Fundraising, and ISDP’s 20th Anniversary in 2027. 

Responsibilities:     

  • Assist senior staff members in program activities   
  • Conduct research for senior staff members       
  • Newsgathering and reporting 
  • Assist in working with social media and newsletters  
  • Assist in the day-to-day work at ISDP     
  • Participate in collaborative research and writing efforts    

Please note: Our internship opportunities always involve an equal mix of research and administrative tasks.  

Responsibilities tailored to the position for Outreach, Fundraising and ISDP’s 20th Anniversary in 2027: 

A similar internship experience but with less emphasis on research: 

  • Assist in working with social media and newsletters 
  • Assist in event management 
  • Contribute to the coordination and implementation of the year-long project celebrating ISDP’s 20th anniversary in 2027: event planning, creating content for social media, and networking 
  • Assist in fundraising efforts for the institute 
  • Assist in working with social media and newsletters  
  • Assist in the day-to-day work at ISDP

Desired qualifications:     

  • Undergraduate degree in, or pursuing a degree, in international relations, Asian studies, social sciences, economics, language studies, or other disciplines relevant to the position; For the position with Outreach, Fundraising and ISDP’s 20th Anniversary in 2027, media, communication, and business studies can be seen as very relevant too. 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English 
  • Strong research and drafting skills       
  • Good coordination and communication skills     
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment     
  • Political or cultural research interests in Asia   
  • Knowledge of one or more Asian languages is a plus
