The Stockholm Korea Center hosted young professionals for the Nordic-Korea Next Generation Training Program 2025

September 11, 2025: Last week, ISDP’s Korea Center had the pleasure of hosting four outstanding young professionals from the Nordic region for the Nordic-Korea Next Generation Training Program. The program began with a three-day training session in Stockholm from September 3rd to 5th, sponsored by the Korea Foundation.
The four participants, all of whom share a strong interest in Korea, were given lectures on a variety of contemporary topics pertaining to the Korean Peninsula by leading experts from around the world, including Korea. We had the pleasure of having lectures with, among others, Jeenou Yi, Rachel Minyoung Lee, Yi hyun Kang, and Åsa Malmstrom Rognes.
Aside from engaging in stimulating conversations about the lectures, the participants were able to enjoy delightful dinners with the South Korean Embassy in Stockholm and some of last year’s Next Generation Training Program participants.
After three intensive days in Stockholm, the participants will choose a research topic related to the Korean Peninsula and prepare a policy paper with specific policy suggestions in the coming months. They will also soon be appointed a mentor to help them with their writing as they embark on a new research adventure in the policy making world. The pieces will eventually be gathered into a booklet and presented during a book launch in February 2026. As the center provides updates on a regular basis, stay up to speed on the participants’ journeys as they investigate the richness and complexity of the Korean Peninsula.
Want to learn more about the training our Nordic-Korea Next Generation Training Program participants received during their three-day training session in Stockholm?
The Stockholm Korea Center decided to record three of the participants’ many lectures in order to share them with the wider public. With the project’s ultimate goal of inspiring young people in the Nordics to focus their research on contemporary issues pertinent to the Korean Peninsula, we hope that by sharing the three lectures, young people from all over the world will be equally inspired as our four participants.
