The internet has become one of China’s most important weapons in the battle against Japan for soft power.
“We see on social media how they are trying to influence Japan, but also to discredit the country and promote a more positive image of China and the Communist Party,” says Swanström.
“This message is repeated on TikTok today, for example,” he continues.
