ProgramsThe Institute for Security and Development Policy has two constituent parts: the Silk Road Studies Program and the Asia Program. The Silk Road Studies Program focuses mainly on the western part of Eurasia, including Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey, Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea region. Through its Silk Road Studies Program, the institute runs a joint Transatlantic Research and Policy Center together with the Central-Asia Caucasus Institution of Johns Hopkins University. The Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program publishes the CACI Analyst, the China and Eurasia Forum Quarterly, and the Silk Road Paper series. The Asia Program is oriented towards the Eastern part of the Eurasian continent including the East Asian, Central Asian, and South Asian regions. The aim of the Program is to function as a focal point for academic, policy, and public discussion of the region through its applied research, its publications, research cooperation, public lectures and seminars. The Asia Program publishes the Asia Paper series and the Policy Paper series.
InitiativesIn addition to the two programs, ISDP has also launched two specific country initiatives under the respective programs; the Turkey Initiative and the China Initiative. The Turkey Initiative was launched in 2006 by the CACI & SRSP Joint Center to develop a nexus for expertise, knowledge and information on Turkish politics, society, and foreign relations. Its goal is cater not only to the academic community but to society at large, including government institutions and parliament, the business community, NGOs, media, and the wider public. The China Initiative was launched in 2008 in order to further the understanding of Chinas domestic and its international role - a prerequisite for any analysis of China as a rising power and its impact on future developments in Asia and the World. |
