Sr. Col. Dr Wang Xinjun presents his research on "China's Culture and its Peaceful Development Strategy"

On November 29, 2011, Sr. Col. Dr. Wang Xinjun, from the War Theory and Strategy Studies Department, AMS, PLA in Beijing, held a presentation on his two-month research project at the ISDP, "China's Culture and its Peaceful Development Strategy".

‘Moneypenny’ – ISDP launches a new joint project on money laundering with the Swedish National Police

ISDP, together with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Asset Recovery Office (ARO) in Sweden have received funding from SIDA's Baltic Sea Unit for a 15-month joint project. The project is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation between FIU and ARO around the Baltic Sea in the fight against money laundering. 

 

Major Jiao speaks about Chinas rising military power

On 17 November 2011, Major Jiao Liang, guest researcher from World Military Studies Department, AMS, PLA in Beijing, held a presentation on "China's Rising Military Power and its Implications" within the Asia Forum of ISDP.

 

ISDP receives Russian delegation

ISDP receives a delegation from the four Russian cities of Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Nyagan´ and Khanti-Mansiysk - who travelled to Sweden to learn from the successful Swedish experience in drug prevention.

 

Mr. Hirsh Goodman's visit to ISDP

Mr. Hirsh Goodman visited ISDP on the 15th of November, 2011 and held a lecture on "The Arab Spring and Implications for Israel". The lecture was divided into two parts. The first part dealt with the implications of the Arab Spring uprisings, while in the second part, Mr. Goodman gave his views on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and future prospects.

 

ISDP receives funding from the US Embassy in Stockholm

ISDP announces that it has received funds from the US Embassy in Stockholm to host a seminar on the intricate issue of Iran Nuclear Issues - current challenges and possible solutions.

 

Walter Kegö participated in the Conference on Trafficking and routes concerning illegal drugs

Walter Kegö participated in a conference in Gothenburg on November 10, 2011 for politicians and heads in Social Welfare. Mr Kegö made a presentation on the subject "Trafficking and routes concerning illegal drugs".

MoU Signed between ISDP and CICIR

ISDP is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR,中国现代国际关系研究院) on October 17, 2011 during a visit to Beijing, China.  

 

New Guest Researchers from DPRK at ISDP

Mr. Ki Sok So is a new guest researcher at ISDP. Mr. Ki Sok So is a senior researcher and Director for the Division of External Affairs at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace, Pyongyang. He arrived on October 24 and will stay until November 21, 2011.  

 

New Guest Researcher from DPRK

Mr. Hak Rim Ho is a researcher at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace, Pyongyang and a new guest researcher at ISDP.

 

ISDP receives development funding from SIDA for Vietnam project

ISDP is delighted to announce that it will initiate a new project on partner driven cooperation (PDC) in Vietnam, focusing on agricultural issues, land policy and other development issues. ISDP would like to thank SIDA in Vietnam for their generosity, and is very much looking forward to initiating the cooperation with our new partners, IPSARD, Lund University and CBS. The results of this project will be availabe on ISDP's homepage.

 

Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister visits ISDP

ISDP hosted a round table discussion with Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Reintegration, Ekaterine Tkeshelashvili, at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Words of Condolences for the Late Mr. Per Unckel, Board Member of ISDP

The Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Per Unckel on Tuesday, September 20. Mr. Unckel was the Governor of Stockholm, a valued board member of ISDP and was highly appreciated for his work and dedication at the Institute. He will be deeply missed and ISDP offers its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

One new guest researcher has arrived at ISDP. Major Jiao Liang is a fellow researcher from the Department of World Military Studies, Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing, China. He arrived on September 15 and will stay until December 15.
