Senior Colonel Wang Xinjun (September - December 2011)

Senior Colonel Wang Zinjun is a Research Fellow at the Department of War Theories and Strategic Studies, PLA, Beijing, China. During his time at ISDP he researched on comparing studies on Modern Defence Systems in the West and China.

Major Jiao Liang (September - December 2011)

Major Jiao Liang is a Fellow Researcher at the Department of World Military Studies, Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing, China. During his time at ISDP he researched on China's Military Modernization in the context of Peaceful Rise.

Lee Seung Yeol (January - December 2011)

Lee Seung Yeol is a Senior Research Fellow at Ewha Womans University Institute for Unification in Seoul, specialized in the succession of North Korean Politics. During his time at ISDP he researched on North Korea's third succession.

Hak Rim Ho (October - November 2011)
Hak Rim Ho is a Researcher at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace, Pyongyang, DPRK. At ISDP he conducted research on the Conclusion of the Peace Treaty on the Korean Peninsula.

Ki Sok So (October - November 2011)
Ki Sok So is a Senior Researcher and Director for the Division of External Affairs at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace, Pyongyang, DPRK. During his stay at ISDP he conducted research on inter-Korean relations.

Li Yan (September - November 2011)
Li Yan is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of American Studies, CICIR, Beijing, China. Li Yan's research focused on ‘Sino-US Military-to-Military Relations in Times of Global Commons'.

Liu Yu is an Assistant Professor of Institute of World Politics Studies, CICIR, Beijing, China. The topic for Liu Yu's research was ‘The Rising of Emerging Powers and its Effect'.

Dr. Shi Xiaoqin (May - June 2011)
Dr. Shi Xiaowin is a Lt. Colonel from the PLA Academy of Military Science in Beijing, China. At her stay at ISDP Dr. Shi Xiaoqin researched on Chinese Seapower.

Lu Jinghua (May - June 2011)
Lu Jinghya is a Lt. Colonel from the Academy of Military Science, PLA in Beijing China. At her stay at ISDP Lu Jinghua researched on the Taiwan Strait Crises.

Kyaw Moe Tun (April - June 2011)
Kyaw Moe Tun is the Deputy Director of the Political Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Myanmar. During his visit at ISDP he researched on conflict management and on traditional & non-traditional security threats.

So Kwang Yong is a Researcher at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace (IDP), Pyongyang, DPRK. At his stay at ISDP he researched on a possible federal solution for the future reunification of the two Koreas.

Niu Zhongjun is an Associate Professor of the Department of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs Administration at China Foreign Affairs University and Director of its Political Science teaching and research section.

Jagannath P. Panda (September-November 2010)
Dr. Jagannath P. Panda is Research Fellow (rank of Associate Professor) at the premier Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses (IDSA), an autonomous body of the Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Jiang Bo (September-November 2010)

Major Jiang Bo is an associate research fellow at the Department of World Military Studies, Academy of Military Sciences, People's Liberation Army (PLA) in China. He mainly concentrates on international security issues, including arms control and disarmament, and human security. Currently, he is interested in topics concerning Rules of Engagement for armed forces and civilian protection in non-international armed conflicts.

Zhang Bo (September-November 2010)
Zhang Bo is a Phd candidate in the post-graduate Department of the Academy of Military Science (AMS) with the People's Liberation Army of China, Major Zhang Bo's academic interests mainly focus on the comparative military thought of the US and China as well as crisis management theory.

Liu Mingli (August - November 2010)

Liu Mingli is from China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR). His research area is European studies including European integration, European economy as well as Sino-European relations. With  an economic background, he is currently workinh on a study of sovereign debt issues and its implications for China.
 
Dr. Konrad Raczkowski

Dr. Raczkowski is the author or co-author of numerous  publications (including four books) in the field of management, praxiology, social and economic security and crime combating. Dr. Raczkowski holds a Ph.D. from the National Defence University in Warsaw; he also graduated from the Land Forces Military Academy in Wroclaw, the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw and postgraduate studies in human resource management in modern organizations from the Polish Open University. He participated in the second level doctorate training during the Seminar of Development Theory and Practice Management Sciences at the Institute of Organization and Management in Industry in Warsaw and he took a Fellow Senior Course on Crisis Management and Civil Emergency Planning at The Swedish National Defence College. He is a member of the Polish Economic Society and the Polish Scientific Society of Organization and Management.

Ma Tong Hui is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Disarmament and Peace in DPRK.

Senior Colonel Zhang Dongjiang (June - July 2010)

Senior Colonel Zhang Dongjiang is a senior research fellow at the Academy of Military Science (AMS) of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the People's Republic of China. As a high ranking officer, S. Col. Zhang is experienced in the practical workings of troops and works as commander of a company and a regiment, deputy-commander of a division, and director of the Research Section of Politics of the Political Department of the General Staff of PLA. At ISDP  he engaged in research focusing on the dispute between China and Japan on delimitation in the East China Sea.

Captain Feng Xinhua (June - July 2010)

Captain Feng Xinhua is a researcher at the Department of Operational Theory and Manual Research at the PLA Military Science Academy. During his stay at ISDP he researched the security of international marine strategic thoroughfare.

Norihito Kubota (April - June 2010)

Norihito Kubota is an Assistant Professor at the National Defense Academy of Japan; he became a Visiting Fellow at ISDP this April. From 2008 to 2010, prior to joining ISDP, Mr. Kubota was a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto. His publications include "Effects of the Political Regime and Casualty Sensitivity on the Provision of Personnel to the UN Peacekeeping Operations: The Application and the Extension of the Lebovic's Analysis," Defense Studies, No. 38 (2008); "What Is to be Secured," in Yasuhiro Takeda ed. Song Qingrun (April - June 2010)

Song Qingrun is a researcher at the Institute of South and Southeast Asian Studies at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), a prominent Beijing based think tank. He is an expert on the studies of Myanmar, Thailand, and Mekong area, and has published a number of papers about the abovementioned fields. He was a guest researcher at ISDP during the Spring of 2010 and spent his time researching U.S.-Myanmar relations.

Major Lu Yin (November 2009 - February 2010)

Major Lu Yin is a research fellow at the Institute of Strategic Studies, National Defense University, PLA, China, and was a visiting fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy of Sweden (ISDP).

Winston Set Aung (October - December 2009)

Winston Set Aung started a three-month research project with the ISDP this October as a guest researcher. He is a Founder and Director of the Research of Asia Development Research Institute (ADRI) and also a Founder and Executive Director of the Asia Language and Business Academy (ALBA) of Myanmar. He is also a faculty member for the MBA Programme at the Yangon Institute of Economics of Myanmar. Mr. Set Aung is taking part in the ongoing Myanmar project at ISDP and mainly focuses on research related to informal/illegal cross-border economy including cross-border trade and migration (human trafficking) and their policy implications. His stay was funded with a grant awarded by the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT). Personal webpage.

Li Xin (August - October 2009)

Li Xin started a three-month fellowship at ISDP this August as a guest researcher. She is currently Deputy Director for International Exchanges at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR). Apart from conducting interviews and attending conferences on various topics, Ms. Li Xin is conducting research mainly focused on the study of China's image as well as the intertwined relationship between China's soft power and the perceptions of the outside world.

Colonel Zhao Dexi (February - March 2009)

Colonel Zhao Dexi was a guest researcher at ISDP. He is a research fellow at the Department of War Theories and Strategic Studies of the Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing. His fields of interest include national security strategy and military strategy. During his stay at ISDP he worked on his report on "Integrating Process and Collective Defense of the European Countries".

Senior Colonel Zhao Xiaozhuo (February - March 2009)

Senior Colonel Zhao Xiaozhuo was a guest researcher at ISDP. He is a research fellow at the Department of World Military Studies of the Academy of Military Science, PLA, Beijing. At ISDP his research focused on strategic management of armed forces in developed countries.

Dr. Xu Qiyu (January - April 2009)

Dr. Xu Qiyu, a senior research fellow from the Institute for Strategic Studies of the National Defense University, Beijing was a guest researcher at ISDP. During his stay, Dr. Xu worked on an Asia Paper entitled "Managing uncertainties - Sino-EU cooperation in international security".

Dr. Kathleen J. Hancock (June 2008)

Dr. Kathleen J. Hancock, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Texas, was a guest researcher at the institute. Dr. Hancock specializes in international relations theory, international organization and economic relations in the former Soviet Union. Personal webpage.

Prof. Alan M. Wachman (May 2008)

Prof. Alan M. Wachman, an Associate Professor of International Politics at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University was on a short research visit at the institute. Prof. Wachman worked on a book manuscript examining Mongolia's national security in the context of the PRC's geostrategic worldview. Personal webpage.

Senior Colonel Ren Xiangqun (April - June 2008)

Senior Colonel Ren Xiangqun from the Academy of Military Science of the People's Liberation Army in Beijing was a guest research at the Institute. Ms. Ren conducted research and wrote a publication on PLA's transparency.

Prof. Chen Yuexue (September 2007 - May 2008)

Prof. Chen Yue Xue from Beijing University of Agriculture stayed at the Institute for 9 months as a guest researcher. She is interested in rural economic development of China and China-Taiwan trade relations. Prof. Chen received scholarship from the STINT.
