Associated Fellow
Dr. Martina Klimesova is an Associated Fellow currently based at the Institute of International Relations at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan. Her research focus is on third party involvement in peace negotiation, conflict-development nexus, and the employment of incentives in peace processes. Her research project at IIR/NCCU Challenges of International Development Cooperation in Conflict and Disaster Affected Areas: Can Carrots Promote Stability? is focused on, among other issues, Taiwan's possible role as a donor in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Klimesova holds a PhD degree in International Relations from Charles University in Prague (April 2011). Her dissertation entitled Using Carrots to Bring Peace? Negotiation and Third Party Involvement discussed how external incentives impact peace negotiation in the context of internal armed conflicts. She also holds MA degrees from Uppsala University (Department of Peace and Conflict Research) and Charles University in Prague (Department of International Relations). Previously, Dr. Klimesova worked with the project on Conflict Management in Northeast Asia at ISDP and between July 2007 and February 2011 was responsible for ISDP's external relations. Between 2006 and 2007, she also worked as a research assistant with the project on Conflict and Security in Asia at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, a joint transatlantic research and policy center at Uppsala University.
