Michael Jonsson

Non-Resident Research Fellow

Mr. Michael Jonsson is a Non-Resident Research Fellow and Coordinator for Research on Political Violence. His primary expertise lies in the field of terrorist financing, money laundering and organized crime. Mr Jonsson is a regular contributor to Jane’s Intelligence Review within his areas of expertise and his commentaries have appeared in Dagens Nyheter, Uppsala Nya Tidning and the International Herald Tribune.

Mr. Jonsson is currently a Ph.D student at the Department of Government at Uppsala University, where he is also teaching. He holds a BA and MA in political science from the Department of Government in Uppsala and has also studied economics and international relations extensively at Stockholm University. Mr. Jonsson has also been a Fulbright and Marcus Wallenberg Scholar at the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program at Georgetown University and a Visiting Researcher at Johns Hopkins Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, both in Washington DC.

Michael Jonsson previously worked at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Deparment of Global Development, where he was responsible for Sweden's contacts with the regional development banks.
