Niklas Nilsson conducts research within the institute’s project on Conflict Management and Ethnic Relations in the South Caucasus. He is also coordinator for a project on European Energy Security and Caspian Supply Alternatives. Mr. Nilsson holds an M.A. degree in Political Science from Lund University, with a specialization in security and development in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. He has also studied East European transitions and EU enlargement at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration, and Russian Language at Stockholm and Uppsala Universities. He has previously served as a guest researcher at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies, Tbilisi, and as an intern at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), Stockholm. At the ISDP, Mr. Nilsson is currently specializing in the Caucasus and the Wider Black Sea Region, with a specific focus on state building processes, conflict, and regional security.
